Laurie Cottrell, assistant to the Brea city manager for the past three years, has been named Pasadena’s new director of communications. She will oversee the city’s public information and telecommunications programs. A former television newscaster in Michigan, Cottrell, 34, held similar jobs with the cities of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Santa Ana. She begins her $62,000 Pasadena job April 2, replacing Christine Sanchez, who announced her resignation in January.
