Administrators from Laguna Hills and Orange high schools are investigating a fight that occurred at the end of the Southern Section 2-A boys’ soccer final Saturday.
Orange Principal Shirley Fox and Laguna Hills Principal Wayne Mickaelian said they will file reports to the Southern Section office and suspend any students who participated in the incident.
The fight started at the end of the match, which was won by Laguna Hills, 2-1, in overtime. Rich Whitfield of Laguna Hills and David Knorr of Orange began pushing each other, the fight escalated and allegedly involved fans from both schools.
“It’s one of those unfortunate incidents that I hate to see,” Mickaelian said. “We are checking with the parents of the players to see if they videotaped the match.”
Southern Section officials declined comment until they have reviewed reports from both schools.
