LOCAL : Teen Held in Shooting of Deaf Youths Won’t Fight Extradition

A Long Beach teen-ager charged with shooting two deaf brothers from Palmdale, , killing one, waived extradition today from upstate New York where he was arrested, prosecutors said.
Joey Paul Bellinger, 16, appeared in Oneida County Court and said he would not fight his return to Los Angeles County. He should be returned in the next several days, said Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman for the District Attorney’s Office.
Meanwhile, an arraignment in Long Beach Municipal Court was postponed today until March 16 for Bellinger’s father, Joseph Paul Bellinger Sr., 40, who was arrested Monday on suspicion of aiding his son’s flight from California. The senior Bellinger was freed on bail, Gibbons said.
The younger Bellinger, an unemployed high school dropout, is charged with murder and attempted murder in the Jan. 28 shooting of two Palmdale brothers, Cesar and Edward Vieira. Cesar Vieria, 30, died of chest wounds. Edward Vieira, 25, is still recovering from hip and shoulder wounds.
