City Tightens Spray Paint Control

The Gardena City Council on Tuesday night unanimously approved an anti-graffiti ordinance that would require stores to keep aerosol spray paint cans of six ounces or less in secured areas.
An existing city ordinance prohibits minors from buying spray paint. However, City Manager Ken Landau said that small cans of paint are easily concealed by shoplifters.
The law will make it “even more difficult for youngsters to obtain paint used for graffiti and other types of destruction of property,” City Atty. Michael Karger said.
