New Financial Agency Proposed: State Sen. Dan McCorquodale (D-San Jose) introduced legislation that would put banks, savings and loans, credit unions and other financial institutions under the supervision of a single state agency. He said combining the departments of banking, corporations, real estate and savings and loan into a Department of Financial Institutions would provide better enforcement.
