SOUTHERN SECTION BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS : Mater Dei, Corona del Mar Boys to Play Semifinal Games in O.C. Friday

Mater Dei and Corona del Mar high schools are the only county teams that will play home games in the semifinals of the Southern Section boys’ basketball playoffs Friday night.

Mater Dei, the top-seeded team in the 5-A division, will be the home team when the Monarchs play El Toro at Ocean View High School. Mater Dei played six games in Ocean View’s gym this year, and won all six.

Corona del Mar won a coin flip and will play host to Sherman Oaks Notre Dame at Estancia High School in the 3-A division.

Five teams were sent out of the county for their semifinal games, including Laguna Beach, the top-seeded team in 2-A, which will travel to Rolling Hills High School to meet El Segundo.

In 3-A, Estancia will play Lompoc at Cabrillo High School and Servite will travel to St. Bernard High School to take on Culver City. Edison will play Compton at Dominguez High School in 4-AA, and St. Margaret’s will take on Bethel Christian at Quartz Hills High School in the Small Schools division.

All games will start at 7:30. The semifinal pairings:

Burbank Burroughs (18-6) vs. Artesia (23-2) at Cerritos College

San Marcos (23-6) vs. La Mirada (19-8) at Biola College

3-AA Division

Estancia (18-9) vs. Lompoc (21-5) at Cabrillo High School in Lompoc
