WORLD IN BRIEF : CAMBODIA : Premier, Resistance Chief Ask U.N. Role

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen met in Bangkok, Thailand, with resistance leader Prince Norodom Sihanouk. The two issued a communique saying that a U.N. presence is needed for a political settlement of Cambodia’s civil war. They also agreed on the setting up of a supreme national body as a symbol of “national sovereignty and national unity.” The two plan to take part in broader, more formal negotiations on Cambodia next week in Jakarta, Indonesia.
