San Diego Crash Kills Northridge Woman

A 43-year-old Northridge woman was killed and her three children injured when an oncoming pickup truck careened across a rural highway in northern San Diego County and struck their van head-on, authorities said.
The woman, identified as Mary Penn, was pronounced dead at the scene Sunday on California 79 in Warner Springs, according to a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman.
John Penn, 16, was listed in serious condition Tuesday at Palomar Hospital in Escondido. At Children’s Hospital in San Diego, 5-year-old John Ross was in serious condition and 2-year-old Lily Ross was in good condition, hospital officials said.
The pickup truck driver, whose name was not released, was uninjured. The accident was under investigation.
