Columbia Orion’s Agent Abroad

NEW YORK — Columbia Pictures Entertainment Inc. said today it has reached an agreement to distribute overseas the movies and videotapes produced by Orion Picture Corp.
Columbia said it will make an advance payment of $175 million to distribute Orion’s movies outside the United States. The agreement also covers home videotapes of Orion’s next 50 films and the licensing of television rights for a number of Orion library features.
Columbia will begin distributing Orion’s movies overseas immediately while video distribution will start within 18 months.
