Santa Monica : Computer Link to Levine
Instead of writing to their representative about problems, residents can send Rep. Mel Levine (D-Santa Monica) a message with the touch of a few buttons of the computer keyboard.
Levine, whose coastal district extends from Pacific Palisades to Palos Verdes, is now on line with Santa Monica’s Public Electronic Network, or PEN, computer system. Residents who have signed up to use the system can reach Levine through his electronic mailbox.
Levine also is participating in a program known as “Congressman” in which PEN users can participate in an electronic discussion of a variety of federal issues.
Any resident who signs up can gain access to the PEN system from a home computer. Computer terminals for public use also have been installed at public libraries and at City Hall. Registration forms can be obtained from the Information Systems Department at City Hall. The department’s phone number is (213) 458-8383.
