The Angels announced that they will not offer 1990 contracts to reliever Mark Clear and outfielder Tony Armas but will invite both players to spring training on a nonroster basis.
Clear, 33, did not pitch last season because of ligament damage in his right elbow. Armas, 36, batted .257 with 11 home runs and 30 runs batted in. He was limited to 60 games because of two hamstring injuries.
