Chevron Corp. said it sold $1 billion of newly issued stock, or 14,134,276 shares at $70.75 a share, to a newly created employee stock ownership plan as expected . . . Venice-based Gruene Inc., a distributor of upscale men’s fragrances and toiletries, said it is having discussions with potential buyers . . . United Airlines and leaders of the 14,000-member flight attendants union would not comment after a meeting to discuss employee ownership and other contract issues.
