WORLD IN BRIEF : PANAMA : U.S. to Reduce Troop Dependents

The United States announced plans to immediately begin reducing the number of civilian dependents of U.S. troops living in Panama. “This is not an evacuation of dependents,” said Defense Department spokesman Pete Williams. “It’s an orderly reduction of some families to improve the safety and security of the U.S. forces and their families who remain in Panama.”
