Two people were injured Thursday in a multicar accident on westbound California 94 when a car knocked over a street light at the Interstate 5 junction, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Georgia White, 27, of Chula Vista, the car’s driver, suffered moderate head injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital, CHP Officer Joe Wolf said.
James Brannigan, 72, of San Diego, who ran into the fallen street light, suffered major injuries and was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition, Wolf said.
According to Wolf, White attempted to enter the northbound I-5 ramp about 1:45 p.m. from the far left lane of California 94 when her car struck the street light beyond the I-5 on-ramp. Brannigan, also traveling west on 94, then hit the downed pole, he said.
