The Angels asked waivers on infielder Glenn Hoffman Wednesday for the purpose of giving him his release.
Hoffman, 31, joined the Angels as a free agent last January. During the 1989 season, he appeared in 48 games and had 22 hits in 104 at-bats for a .212 average. He had one home run and drove in three runs.
Hoffman appeared at all four infield positions and made his first career starts as a first baseman and as a designated hitter.
