WASHINGTON — The Bush Administration is cutting off funds for the Nicaraguan Contras’ operations in the United States, forcing the group’s Miami office to close today, an Administration official said today.
The official, who asked not to be identified, said the move was part of an Administration effort to move the rebels’ political apparatus closer to the resistance forces, most of whom are based in Honduras.
The source declined to say how much money was being spent to maintain the Miami office but he said “not many more than 10” resistance staff members are affected by the move.
