Signal Hill : Week Was Too Short for All Her Clothes
- Share via
In her 29 years in education, Sherry Meinberg has heard just about every explanation imaginable from children. But she came across a new one recently.
It was the third day of school--a Friday--and Meinberg was overseeing students during their recess at Signal Hill Elementary School.
While waiting for the bell to ring, Meinberg, a reading specialist, told a second grader: “Isn’t it great that we’ve only been in school for three days, and it’s already time for a weekend?”
“No,” the child answered. “I wish we had gone to school for the whole week.”
“Really? Why?” Meinberg asked.
“Because,” the second-grader explained, “I have new panties that say Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday on them.”
