A 20-year-old El Toro man has died of head injuries suffered last weekend when he was thrown from the passenger seat of a motorcycle in Laguna Niguel, authorities said Tuesday.
William C. Gibson, 20, was riding behind 25-year-old Darius R. Jackson of Mission Viejo on a motorcycle at 12:25 a.m. Sunday, according to Officer Ken Daily, spokesman for the California Highway Patrol office in San Juan Capistrano.
The motorcycle was speeding eastbound on Paseo de Colinas when Jackson lost control around a curve and both men were thrown, Daily said. Neither was wearing a helmet.
Gibson was taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, where he died at 2 p.m. Monday, Daily said.
Jackson, who was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving, was also treated for minor injuries.
Daily said Jackson is being investigated for possible felony vehicular manslaughter charges in Gibson’s death.
