More than 400 people spent the day beachcombing in San Francisco, but instead of gathering pretty shells and pebbles, volunteers picked up ugly and dangerous trash. The cleanup, part of a statewide effort, resulted in the removal of 3,000 pounds of garbage from the city’s Ocean Beach, according to the local chapter of the Oceanic Society.
