Forty bodies from among the 171 people killed when a French DC-10 exploded in midair over southern Niger last week arrived in Paris, where autopsies may give clues to the type of bomb that blew up the jetliner, the government said. Robert Paillasse, president of the commission of officials from France, Niger and Chad appointed to investigate the tragedy, told the French radio network RTL that it appeared the explosion occurred in a forward cargo compartment. UTA Flight 772 was en route from Congo to Paris after a stopover in N’Djamena, Chad, when it blew up.
