An anti-abortion activist was sentenced Thursday in El Cajon Municipal Court to 450 days in jail on charges stemming from the blockade of a medical clinic in La Mesa, prosecutors said.
El Cajon Municipal Judge Elizabeth Riggs sentenced William R. Lehman, 29, of Vista, one of seven protesters convicted by a jury Monday in connection with the July 3 protest, to 180 days in County Jail for criminal trespass and 270 days for resisting arrest. Riggs ordered that the sentences run consecutively, prosecutors said.
Riggs set Lehman’s bond at $10,000 while he appeals, prosecutors said. It could not be determined late Thursday whether Lehman had posted bond, they said.
Riggs sentenced the six other protesters, convicted either of trespass alone or of both trespass and resisting arrest, to a variety of sentences, ranging from a $300 fine to 61 days in jail, prosecutors said. It could not be determined late Thursday whether the activists who received jail sentences had posted appeal bonds.
The activists were arrested at the July 3 blockade of the Family Planning Associates Medical Group on Fletcher Parkway.
