Randy Whitfield scored two goals Wednesday as The Master’s College defeated La Verne, 6-3, in a nonconference soccer match at Master’s.
Justin Roath, Jim Rickard, Geraldo Guimaraes, and Chris Bingman rounded out the scoring for Master’s (4-3-1), the 16th-ranked team in the National Assn. of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Seconds before the end of the half, the Mustangs accidentally scored on themselves--the third such mishap in the past two matches--to narrow the lead to 4-2.
“I thought we played to the level of our opponent,” Master’s Coach Mark Schubert said. “I think we were a little tired.”
