Costa Mesa : Fire Causes $15,000 in Damages to Duplex
- Share via
Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire Monday that caused about $10,000 in structural damage and $5,000 in personal damage to a duplex, authorities said.
No injuries were reported, but the back bedroom of one apartment was gutted and there was smoke damage throughout the apartments in the 1600 block of Wintergreen Place, Costa Mesa Fire Department spokesman Jim Richey said.
Richey said Jack Fletchall Jr., 23, who lives with his parents, started the fire by smoking on a bed.
Sixteen firefighters, three engines, a paramedic truck and a battalion chief brought the fire under control in 20 minutes, Richey said.
