Culver City : Benefits for Firefighters
The city’s firefighters will get increased benefits, including new $50,000 life insurance policies, more holidays and a larger uniform allowance, under a 30-month agreement approved Monday night by the City Council.
In exchange, the 65 members of the Culver City firefighters association agreed to some changes in the benefits and working conditions contract that will save the city administrative costs, said Personnel Manager Gordon W. Youngs.
Meanwhile, negotiations over benefits between the city and the Culver City Police Officers Assn. have resumed and are expected to continue for the next several weeks, Youngs said.
Police officers last month picketed City Hall and threatened work slowdowns after the benefit talks stalled.
