Cable News Network, meanwhile, is said to be ready to launch an evening newscast next month that would compete directly with the big three TV networks. The hourlong program “The WorldToday,” will air weekdays at 6 p.m. (EDT). It will be a stand-alone newscast, unlike CNN’s virtually 24-hour, all news is contin .lone newscast, unlike CNN’s virtually 24-hour, all-news format, in which the news is continuously updated. CNN newsman Bernard Shaw is the probable anchor.
