A 41-year-old Buena Park woman allegedly brandished a rifle at her estranged husband in front of her house Sunday and then locked herself in the house after he left, prompting a 4 1/2-hour standoff with police before she gave up her weapon, police said.
Buena Park police spokesman Rich McMillen said a hostage-rescue team of 20 officers surrounded the house in the 7900 block of Dahlia Circle shortly after 9 a.m. when the woman refused to come out. She emerged at 1:30 p.m. after police talked her out, McMillen said.
The woman, who police would not identify because she was to be given a pshychological evaluation, had been contacted four times in the last two days about family disturbances, he said. Two rifles were recovered in the house, McMillen said, adding that no one was hurt.
