Carvalho Carries Dana Hills to 15-0 Victory Over Ramona

Dana Hills High School, paced by fullback Matt Carvalho and a stingy defense, beat Ramona of San Diego, 15-0, in its season opener Friday night.
The Dolphins, who lost their opener to Ramona last season, were led by Carvalho’s 190 yards in 21 carries. Carvalho scored both Dolphin touchdowns.
Carvalho burst through the middle on a 55-yard scoring run early in the second quarter and Ryan Harrison’s kick made it 7-0.
Dana Hills increased its lead to 9-0 midway through the quarter when a swarm of tacklers downed Bulldog punter Chris Welch in the end zone for a safety following a bad snap from center.
In the fourth quarter, Carvalho closed out the Dolphin scoring with a 24-yard touchdown run.
Ramona’s best chance to score came late in the second quarter when the Bulldogs drove 74 yards to the Dolphin one-yard line. But the Dana Hills defense held and the Bulldogs never threatened again.
