College Roundup : San Diego State Sweeps Fullerton in Volleyball

San Diego State defeated Cal State Fullerton, 15-5, 15-10, 15-6, in the championship round of the Collegiate Premiere tournament Friday in the Titan Gym.
Rachel Wittliff had 12 kills and Stephanie Shrieve had 32 assists for Fullerton.
San Diego State advanced to the second round. Fullerton plays USC at 12:30 p.m. today in both teams’ final match of the tournament.
Fullerton had advanced to the championship bracket by defeating Washington State, 15-9, 12-15, 15-12, 7-15, 17-15, in the last round of pool play. Fullerton won pool four with a 3-0 record.
In the first match, freshman outside hitter Wittliff had 20 kills.
In the semifinals: UC Santa Barbara plays San Diego State and BYU plays California, both at 12:30 p.m. The final is at 7:30 p.m.
In the Chapman College men’s soccer tournament:
Chapman 1, Southern California College 0--Jeff Hudson scored with about two minutes left for host Chapman.
In nonconference men’s soccer:
San Diego State 1, UC Irvine 0--Marcelo Balboa scored in the first half for visiting San Diego State./
