Collins Wins Feature to Advance to Nationals

Phil Collins of Newport Beach won the four-lap scratch main event on Friday in front of 3,410 in the weekly speedway motorcycle program at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa. Collins, with 19 points, led a field of 14 riders who qualified for the United States National Championships.
Schwartz and Mike Faria of Riverside had 18 points, and Alan Christian of Murrieta had 17 points.
