Drug Testing of Workers at Transportation Dept. OKd

WASHINGTON — A federal appeals court ruled Friday that random drug tests are “reasonable” for nearly half of the federal Transportation Department’s civilian work force, saying the government’s anti-drug efforts outweigh employees’ privacy rights. Department officials said the ruling affects about 30,000 of the agency’s 62,000 civilian employees, most of them air traffic controllers.
