‘NRA Front Group’ Pushes Recall
One of the biggest farces played upon the Whittier public is the current Whittier City Council recall effort sponsored by the same group of individuals who loudly threatened such action after the council banned semiautomatic weapons in the city.
This NRA front group now employs the “Big Lie” technique by claiming that organizations such as the Whittier Conservancy and Peace Coalition are among their avid supporters although both groups have frequently dissociated themselves from the recall effort.
Unfortunately, the sad part of this sordid affair is that there will be three Whittier City Council seats available at the next election and that, if the recall is put before the voters, it will cost the taxpayers an unnecessary $70,000--money which is needed for the city’s many pressing post-quake problems.
Despite disclaimers, this entire effort is endorsed by the NRA members who want the recall movement to be a success so that it will serve as a warning to other councils in other cities that they better think again before passing any kind of gun-control legislation.
