A two-alarm fire burned a portion of a fourth-floor chemistry lab at Cal State Fullerton this morning but caused no injuries, officials said.
The small blaze presented a potentially greater danger because of various unknown chemicals and natural flammable gases contained in the room, Fullerton Fire Chief Marc Martin said. The Orange County Fire Department’s hazardous materials team was called to assist.
Martin was uncertain about how the fire began but he said it was confined to one corner of the lab and posed no danger to anyone outside the building. The building was evacuated when the fire started about 8:45 a.m., Martin said.
