The first meeting of the newly formed Los Angeles Tall Buildings Structural Design Council will be held Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Los Angeles Hilton & Towers.
Several prominent structural engineers formed the nonprofit organization following a meeting last year of architects, owners, developers and engineers concerned about tall building issues.
Council members are structural engineers, but the meeting Thursday is open to other engineers, architects, contractors and building officials.
More details are available from Nabih Youssef, executive secretary/treasurer, at 811 W. 7th St., (213) 683-1900.
