Toward Equality

How unfortunate that a project with the ostensible purpose of reducing prejudice and discrimination would instead further bigotry by “exclusion.”
Widespread violence against lesbians and gays exists with random physical attacks being common and verbal abuse epidemic. A report released by the attorney general’s office in April, 1986, says that, “In every region of the state, incidents have occurred in which sexual minorities have been harassed, intimidated, assaulted and even murdered.”
When asked about the omission, the unofficial reply from the Anti-Defamation League was that if gays and lesbians were included, the general public would not accept the project.
