In the vernacular of ‘40s prison flicks, one of history’s most infamous gangsters goes to the big house in “The Revenge of Al Capone,” a new NBC movie airing Sunday at 9 p.m. on Channels 4, 36 and 39.
Ray Sharkey, who made his mark on “Wiseguy” as manipulative Sonny Steelgrave, portrays the cigar-smoking king of Chicago’s underworld. Keith Carradine plays FBI agent Michael Rourke, who gets him for tax evasion.
Written by Tracy Keenan Wynn (“Tribes,” “The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman”), the film focuses on Capone’s efforts to run his empire from Cook County Jail, where he vows vengeance against Rourke.
