Bus Goes in River; 47 Die

BEIJING — A bus plunged into the Yangtze River in the central China province of Hubei and at least 47 people were drowned, the People’s Daily reported Thursday. It said the bus was being driven onto a ferry Wednesday when the driver swerved to avoid another vehicle. The bus, which had defective brakes, fell into the river.
