Southeast Area : First Meeting in Series on Water Contamination

The first of four meetings to educate the public on contaminated ground water will be next Wednesday in El Monte.
Robert G. Berlien, general manager of the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District, will describe steps being taken to try to solve the problem. Officials from other agencies will discuss the search for sources of contamination and the importance of local ground water to Southern California’s water supply.
The League of Women Voters Education Fund is sponsoring the seminars in cooperation with community groups. Other topics in the series include contamination remedies, March 29; health risks, April 26, and the cost of clean water, May 24.
The meeting next Wednesday will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the El Monte Community Center, 3130 Tyler Ave.
