“You have to make movies that span the generational gap and that can appeal, across the board, to people in college and to people like my father,” says Thomas E. Rothman, the new 34-year-old senior vice president of worldwide production for Samuel Goldwyn Co. “The demographics now say that the baby boomers are aging--over 30% of the audience is over 40 now. You’ve got to make films that cross the demographics.” Rothman is joining Goldwyn from Columbia Pictures, where he has been a vice president for two years. He takes his new post April 3.
