Maryland Coach Says Staff Broke NCAA Rules

COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Maryland Coach Bob Wade has admitted his staff has violated National Collegiate Athletic Assn. rules by providing transportation to a basketball recruit, but denied his own involvement and said he had no comment Tuesday.
Wade refused to comment on the violation he reported to Maryland Athletic Director Lew Perkins. The Washington Post reported that Wade and members of his staff provided former Terrapin guard Rudy Archer with rides from his home to classes at a nearby community college and at Maryland’s school of continuing education.
“The matter is being handled by the athletic director’s office, I have no comment about it,” Wade said.
