Malaysians Set Off 3 Million Firecrackers

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Festival organizers set off a 3 1/2-mile chain of firecrackers worth $18,330 on Monday and claimed it was a world record, the national Bernama news agency reported.
Spectators in Johore Baharu watched 3,338,777 firecrackers containing 1,468 pounds of gunpowder go up in smoke in the Firecracker Firing Festival about 180 miles from the capital of Kuala Lumpur.
