Electronics Maker HCC Reverses Year-Ago Loss

HCC Industries, an Encino maker of airtight electronic components, said it earned $726,000 in its fiscal third quarter, compared with a year-earlier loss of $599,000.
HCC recorded the profit in the quarter that ended Dec. 31 despite a dip in revenue to $6.5 million from $6.69 million a year earlier. However, the profit included a $440,000 gain from the termination of a benefits plan, and tax benefits totaling $258,000.
For the first nine months of its fiscal year, HCC reported net income of $958,000 compared with a $1.09 million loss a year earlier. The company’s nine-month revenue fell to $19.4 million from $22.6 million.
