College Basketball Roundup : SCC’s Streak Ended at 12 by Azusa Pacific

Azusa Pacific ended Southern California College’s 12-game winning streak with a 99-89 Golden State Athletic Conference victory Saturday at Azusa.
Azusa took the lead with 8 minutes left in the first half and held it the rest of the way. SCC got to within two points with 4:27 left, but Azusa hung on.
SCC was led by Todd Dixon, who had a game-high 27 points. Jeff Bickmore added 26 and Terry Scruggs 23 for the Vanguards.
SCC is 24-3 overall and 11-1 in conference play. Azusa is 11-16, 5-7.
Keith Hollimon had 24 points, Michael Benton 23 and Mark Borgeson 21 for Azusa.
In the California Collegiate Athletic Assn:
Chapman 79, Cal State Los Angeles 72--Dean Balcao had a game-high 22 points, and Bryan Richetto added 20 to lead visiting Chapman. Rog Middleton added 16 for the Panthers, who led, 39-29, at halftime.
At the National Christian College Division II Playoffs:
Pacific Christian College 82, San Jose Bible College 78 (2 OT)--Steve Welch made both ends of a one-and-one to put PCC ahead, 80-78, and Patrick Drake made both ends of a one-and-one with no time remaining to seal the victory.
PCC trailed by as much as 14 points in the first half but tied the score, 34-34, at halftime. Drake had 25 points and Welch 24 to lead PCC (27-9), which advances to the National Christian College Division II national championships at Baton Rouge, March 2-5.
