A man wanted for murder in Alabama was arrested in Pacoima after Los Angeles police officers stopped him for a series of traffic violations, authorities said Tuesday.
Curtis M. Stone, 24, was arrested about 8 p.m. Monday when officers saw the Cadillac he was driving make a left turn that cut off oncoming traffic, then go 50 m.p.h. through a residential area and finally fail to yield to a fire truck on an emergency run, Detective Jim Turner said.
“His driving was very erratic, so they decided to pull him over,” Turner said.
Stone was stopped on Pinney Street near Norris Avenue. Turner said Stone gave officers his name and furnished identification. A routine computer check of the information turned up a murder warrant from Mobile, Ala., for Stone’s arrest.
Turner said Stone is wanted in the death of a 60-year-old man who was shot last month after he argued with the suspect.
Stone was being held without bail at the Parker Center Jail pending extradition proceedings.
