IN BRIEF : Dorsett Gets Suspended Sentence

DENVER — Denver Broncos running back Tony Dorsett on Thursday was sentenced to a 90-day suspended jail term for a charge of driving while impaired.
The sentence was announced by Arapaho County Judge Geraldine Allan, who also ordered Dorsett to attend an alcohol education program, pay about $500 in fines and court costs and talk with elementary school children about the dangers of drinking and driving.
Dorsett, 34, initially was charged with driving while under the influence, a more serious offense, but that charge was dismissed when he entered the guilty plea in December.
Dorsett was arrested on Oct. 6 after a state patrol trooper saw his vehicle weaving on South Parker Road in Aurora.
