Community College Baseball Roundup : Rancho Santiago Rallies to Win in Arizona, 13-10

Rancho Santiago College came back from an eight-run deficit Thursday to defeat Arizona Glendale, 13-10, in a second-round game of the Mesa Arizona baseball tournament. The game was called after seven innings because of a time-limit rule.
Jerry Aschoff started for Rancho Santiago but retired only two batters and Glendale scored nine runs in the first inning to take a 9-1 lead. Rancho Santiago came back with its second run in the second, but Glendale scored a run in the inning and led, 10-2.
Rancho Santiago rallied for seven runs in the third and another in the fourth to tie it at10. The Dons came up with three runs in the seventh to take a 13-10 lead.
Conrad Colby had four hits, including two doubles and a triple, a walk and four RBIs for Rancho Santiago.
In another second-round game:
Cochise 5, Fullerton 4--Cochise rallied for two runs in the seventh for the victory. The game was called after seven innings because of a time limit. The winning run came home on a walk given up by losing pitcher Steve Trachsel (0-1).
In first-round games:
Rancho Santiago 10, Yavapai 6--Rancho Santiago rallied with eight runs on 13 hits in the sixth inning to take an 8-6 lead. John McTaggart had two hits and two RBIs in the sixth, and pinch-hitter Greg Martineau added a two-run double.
Fullerton 9 Arizona Mesa 4--Norm Hunter allowed eight hits and four runs over eight innings to pick up the victory for Fullerton. Bailey had two hits and two RBIs and John Connolly had a pinch-hit two-run single for Fullerton in the eighth.
