Cleveland in Line for No. 2 Seeding

Barring upsets in its final two regular-season games, Cleveland High will win the North Valley League and be the No. 2-seeded team when the City Section boys’ 4-A basketball playoffs open Feb. 17. The regular season ends Friday.

If Cleveland--which is 18-2 overall and holds a two-game league lead at 8-0--wins the league title, it will play the Southern League’s fourth-place team. The North Valley’s second-place team, currently Taft, will play host to the Southern’s third-place team.

The North Valley’s third-place team, currently Kennedy, will visit the Southern’s second-place team. If Granada Hills finishes as the North Valley’s No. 4 team, it will visit the Southern’s first-place team, expected to be Crenshaw.

In the 3-A, the Mid-Valley champion will be seeded No. 4 and will play host to the Eastern’s second-place team. North Hollywood leads the Mid-Valley by two games and Jefferson is second in the Eastern. The Mid-Valley’s second-place team, now Reseda, will visit Northern champion Wilson.

The East Valley champion will play host to the Western’s second-place team. Grant leads the East Valley by two games and University is currently the Western’s second-place team. The East Valley’s second-place team will visit the Western winner.

The West Valley’s first-place team will play host to the Northeast’s second-place team. West Valley’s second-place team will visit the Eastern champion.
