NATION : 4 in Family Slain; House Burned

HAMMOND, Ind. — Two young children, their mother and grandmother were fatally stabbed and their house set on fire early today, and police arrested the mother’s boyfriend in the killings.
Hammond Police Sgt. Ron Hill said Dennis Rourke, 25, of Gary was arrested on a preliminary homicide charge. The victims were identified by neighbors as Rourke’s 19-year-old girlfriend, Mary Waggoner, their 4-month-old child, Waggoner’s 2-year-old toddler and her 61-year-old mother, Betty Waggoner.
