Ankle Injury to Sideline Cassidy

Mike Cassidy, a senior starting guard for St. Genevieve High, said that he will miss Friday’s San Fernando Valley League game against Notre Dame because of a sprained left ankle.
Cassidy, who leads Valley-area players in assists with an 11.4 average, was injured Tuesday during the Valiants’ 71-47 loss to Bell-Jeff.
“It’s not broken and I don’t think I tore anything,” Cassidy said. “It’s just sprained pretty good. I’m on crutches.”
Cassidy, who averages a team-high 15.6 points a game, said that he will attempt to return for Tuesday’s game against Harvard.
