I was horrified to read about the new device Pasadena is using to catch red-light runners at intersections (Metro, Jan. 24). We are slowly becoming a society in which government secretly monitors the actions of its citizens. This must be stopped before the nightmare that George Orwell portrayed in his book “1984” becomes a reality. We must stand up to this infringement of our freedom. We must put a stop to this and other governmental abuses of our freedom before we become a society not worth living in.
