Minnesota North Stars defenseman Craig Hartsburg, the team captain for the last six years, announced that he was retiring because of a variety of injuries. Hartsburg, 29, cited a stress fracture in his right hip and assorted knee, shoulder and stomach disorders. Hartsburg had 98 goals and 315 assists in 570 career games with Minnesota.
